Despite only managing to bring the kart home in 16th place, Eddie has said that he is really buoyed by the team’s performance at Buckmore Park and says that the team should be in good shape to challenge nearer the front in future races.
“We had a poor start to the season mainly because I made a hash of qualifying and then drove like a knob in my first stint. I think without that we really had the pace to be mixing it at the front.
“When you consider that IMSD’s old City Challenge rivals qualified 3rd and our old Inters sparring partners HB Racing finished 4th, we know that we easily have the ability to match that.”
Eddie was also quick to praise the team for the strategy and pit-work. “Last year we really came unstuck with strategy and at times our pit-work was awful. On Saturday we got it all right. Our work in the pits was especially good so I think if we can maintain that level of performance for the rest of the season that will really help us.”
Eddie also said that he isn’t losing any sleep over his mistakes in the race. “I don’t generally make that many mistakes and, apart from those incidents, I was driving quickly. I always learn from my mistakes and I said to the guys that I would make up for it in my second stint, which I did.
“We’ll be back on track at Whilton Mill in three weeks. We tend to go fairly well there so I’m expecting a good showing. I think realistically we have the pace for a top 6 finish.”
