In a surprise late deal, it has been announced that Eddie will make a return to the sprint championship in 2008.
Eddie last raced full time in the sprint series in 2005, making only a handful of appearances in 2006 before focussing solely on the Endurance series. This year Eddie will compete in both of the championships, as well as the European Endurance series, the recently announced O plate championship and of course the Le Mans 24 Hour.
Although Eddie has never ruled out the possibility of a return to the sprints, this announcement still comes as a surprise, especially being announced this close to the start of the new season.
It is believed that Eddie will return to the Lightweight class but more details and an official announcement from him are expected later.
