Eddie qualified for a B final for the second consecutive race meeting on Sunday at Whilton Mill and drove another consistant and mature race to consolidate his fourth place in the rookie championship.
Racing at yeat another unfamiliar race track, Eddie drove sensibly and consistantly to line up 17th on the grid for the B final (although a small incident in heat 1 with Steve Gray cost Eddie several places). Eddie made an excellent start and got as high as ninth before being held up for the entire race and actually dropped a couple of places to eventually finish twelfth.
"I was getting really frustrated because I knew I was much quicker than the guy in front of me but there was just nowhere to pass. The most annoying thing is that the guy was doing nothing wrong - he was driving very well and very fairly so I didn't have anything to moan about. I did get passed once or twice under braking for the hairpin but he always managed to find a way back up the inside."
Despite this, Eddie was satisfied with his performance and was very pleased to finish so close behind the reigning champion in heat 3.
"I had Luigi Mazza right in front of me for most of heat 3 and almost had a shot at overtaking him at one stage. Sadly I got stuck behind someone and Luigi was much more aggressive in his overtaking so I dropped back a bit. Still, it was nice to finish so close to him because he is a great driver."
