Round five of the 2003 championship is at Lydd this weekend, the circuit that gave Eddie his best result in the series so far. Last September, Eddie qualified for the A final for the very first time, losing his rookie status.
He comes into this race desperate to get a good result after a poor start to the season culminated with him not even qualifying for the B final last time out at Clay Pigeon. Eddie has said that he is looking forward to this race as it brings back some good memories, and is looking forward to it even more with the news that they will not be using the hairpins at the end of the back straight.
"I'm glad that the hairpins are not being used, not just because they disturb the flow of the circuit but also because that was the section of the circuit that resulted in me being excluded from the final result last year!"
Eddie has said that he is determined to get a good result here and put the misery of the opening four races behind him. "I have to think of the positives. I drove well at Buckmore and Whilton, only bad luck and a couple of silly mistakes prevented me from making the cut. The last two races have just been poor and I make no excuses for myself! I just have to stop 'trying' and just relax a bit. That is what I am planning to do at Lydd."
